Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who manufactures LCN door closers?
A: LCN door closers are made by the LCN brand, and Allegion owns LCN. Allegion, a company focused on residential and commercial safety and security, owns over 25 brands, many of which make door hardware products. The LCN manufacturing plant is located in Princeton, Illinois.

Q: What is an LCN closer?
A: A LCN door closer is a device that keeps doors from slamming shut, closing them in a calm, controlled manner instead. Sometimes, door closers are linked to a fire alarm system, and when the doors are opened, the fire alarm will start ringing. Most LCN door closers are heavy-duty, made out of cast iron or cast aluminum, though other variations are available in the product catalog.

Q: Where is the model number on the LCN door closer?
A: On most surface-mounted LCN door closers, the model number is stamped into the packing nut around the closer's pinion shaft. On overhead concealed mounted closers, the model number could be stamped on the back of the closer, on the inside of the mounting plate, or on the packing nut. Keep in mind that the door closer must be removed from the door frame in order to locate the model number.
