Nostalgic Warehouse Installation
Nostalgic Warehouse Installation Instructions
Interior Passage Sets
Unwrap all components, laying them within easy reach. You will need a screwdriver, ruler, and nail polish or threadlock.
Door Preparation
(If door is pre-drilled, skip this step)
Choose a location for the doorknob to install, approximately 36”–38” from the floor or centered in a pleasing location. Using a hole saw, drill a 2 1/8” hole through the door, with a centered backset of 2 3/8”. Edge bore a 1” hole into the door approximately 3 ¾” deep, centered as shown.
Insert latch into the bored hole and, keeping it perpendicular to the floor, scribe a line around the faceplate. Remove the latch and chisel an approximately 3/16” deep mortise so the latch face sits flush with the door edge.
Install the Latch
Install latch into the door with the rounded part of the latch tongue facing the door jamb. Tighten screws securely.
For Long Plates
Gently back the set screws out of each doorknob approximately halfway or until they do not protrude through the spindle hole.
Unscrew one knob approximately ¼–½ turn depending on door thickness. Remove the other knob completely.
Insert the spindle through one door plate and through the latch. Attach the opposite plate and screw the remaining knob on snugly.
Align plates parallel to the door edge. Install top screws first, then bottom screws. Repeat for the opposite plate.
Unscrew knobs slightly until they turn freely. If aligned, install remaining screws.
For Round Plates
Choose appropriate screw length for door thickness (1 3/8” or 1 ¾”).
Remove both knobs and center the spindle in the latch. Install backplates on each side and secure with screws.
Reinstall knobs, tighten backplates, then loosen knobs slightly until they turn freely.
Finishing the Knob Installation
Tighten all set screws against the flat part of the spindle. Test operation.
Remove each set screw one at a time, apply threadlock or nail polish, and reinstall.
Installing the Strike
Close the door with carbon paper to mark latch position. Center strike over mark.
Mortise and drill for latch tongue. Install strike.
Interior Privacy Sets (Split Spindle)
Unwrap all components. You will need a screwdriver, ruler, and threadlock.
Prepare door and install strike as described above.
Install privacy latch with button hole on locking side. Latch tongue should face the door jamb.
Prepare the Knobs
Remove and discard solid spindle if present. Use split spindle only.
Back out set screws halfway if needed.
Placement of the Spindle
Tighten split spindle gently, then unscrew one half two full turns, leaving approximately 1/8” gap.
Insert spindle into latch with stop-pin on non-locking side.
For Long Plates (Privacy)
Ensure privacy holes face door edge.
Install plates and knobs loosely, aligning mechanism with plate holes.
Install privacy button through plate into latch.
Align components and install screws. Loosen knobs slightly for smooth operation.
For Round Plates (Privacy)
Select correct screw length.
Install backplates on both sides, ensuring privacy holes align correctly.
Install knobs and privacy button. Tighten plates and loosen knobs slightly.
Finishing the Knob Installation (Privacy)
Tighten all set screws. Test operation.
Apply threadlock to each set screw and reinstall.
