What are Interchangeable Core Locks

Interchangeable core locks give you flexibility to manage the keyed locks in your facility. An interchangeable core lock has a removable core that houses the key cylinder. These cores are generally compatible with several types of cores offering the flexibility and convenience of being able to swap out cores as needed. You can order most of our commercial door knobs and levers with standard keyway, or with interchangeable core. Some require you to purchase the cores separately.

What You Need to Know About Interchangeable Cores

Some commercial door hardware is available with an interchangeable core option. Some door knobs or levers are available with standard key cylinders or interchangeable core prepped - meaning that they have the cavity for an interchangeable core, but they don't include the core. You can purchase the cores separately. Keep in mind when ordering interchangeable core (IC) locks, that you will need a control key to remove the core. If you have existing locks and are adding to the locks in your facility we can set up the cores to match your existing control key code. Just give us a call to order.
