Again, each knob and lever in this selection doesn't automatically come with concealed fastener mechanisms and limited rotation latches; it's an optional upgrade to the door knob or lever that you can add during the customization process for an extra fee.

Most door knobs have screws visible on their exteriors. You can see where the knob or lever is fastened into the door because, generally, you can see where each screw is. The Emtek CF mechanism knobs and levers offer the option to have those screws and other fasteners hidden so that you can't see them just by looking at the door knob. This provides an appearance more aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well as extra security for your home; if no one can see where your door knob's screws and fasteners are, no one can try to undo them or damage them, which could prevent a break into the home.

The feature also allows for doors to open when the door knob or lever is turned to a smaller degree, which means it will take less effort to open any door. The limited rotation feature is especially recommended to customers who are purchasing levers over doorknobs. Levers usually need to be pushed about 95 degrees to open the door and installing this feature would allow the door to open instead at around 28 degrees. These latches have a little heavier spring mechanism in them which work great with door levers as you have the added leverage of the lever shape to retract the latch, but they are a little bit more difficult to rotate in a knob application, which some customers are not happy with. Just be aware if you choose this upgrade for a knobset you will have more resistance in the rotation than you would on a standard latch.
